Never Forget

Duty

NEVER FORGET.  39 years ago today the FCSO lost one of its own in the line of duty.

Deputy Joseph Moore and his wife, Lieutenant Sharon Moore, were shot while on their drive to work on April 11, 1983. Lieutenant Moore's ex-husband began firing at them with a shotgun while chasing their vehicle. Both were wounded and could not take action to save their lives. After their vehicle stopped in a parking lot, the suspect approached them firing his weapon. Deputy Moore was killed instantly.  Lt. Moore succumbed to her injuries on May 5, 1983.

The suspect was shot and killed by a responding officer.

On behalf of the FCSO, please take a moment to remember Deputy Moore and Lt. Moore as “Our Heroes” who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to the their fellow deputies and the citizens of Franklin County.
