The FCSO Accident Investigation Unit (AIU) had a difficult day responding to a deadly vehicle crash in the 77-hundred block of east Broad St. For reasons unknown, a truck driver drifted into another vehicle traveling in the same direction before striking a tree. A potential haz mat concern forced investigators to dress head to toe in PPE before they could continue their important work. Our thoughts are with the victims’ family but tonight we are also thinking of all of our deputies who witness and absorb trauma and take risks, in one form or another, more often than you care to imagine.
