From bashful to brave
These two buddies, adoptable Dracko and Lorelei, are helping each other gain confidence and courage, through the power of companionship and emotional support while they both wait for a place to call home.
Enrichment programs such as co-housing and playgroups with other dogs, allow our dogs the opportunity for positive interactions, both mental and physical exercises, along with a more enriched and varied environment.
Just like people, our dogs often become anxious, reserved and at times unsure in new environments when the world around them seems unfamiliar and to be moving too fast, which is why daily enrichment and programs likes these, are so beneficial and important for our dogs.
While these two came into the care of the shelter with 2 very different stories, 1-year-old Dracko who was found by two of our staff members tied to a pole and 1.5-year-old Lorelei who was brought in after being found as a stray, both have been able to find a sense of calmness and comfort in each other’s presence.
Both of our four-legged friends here would greatly benefit from being in a home with another dog, along with a family who can allow them the opportunity to become their very best selves, at their own pace.
