WASHINGTON, D.C.– On June 12, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement announcing new key staff in her office:

"I’m proud and excited to welcome Jalina Porter to my team as Communications Director and Senior Advisor,” said Rep. Beatty. “Jalina brings a wealth and breadth of experience and expertise from her time serving as a senior official in the Biden-Harris Administration, as well as her previous time spent serving as senior staff on Capitol Hill. I know she will add great value to my office in support of my work in the Congress, as well as in continued service to the Democratic leadership’s winning agenda.”

Former Congressman Cedric Richmond said, “Having Jalina as an integral part of my team when I served as Congressman of Louisiana’s second congressional district and in leadership as former Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus was key to my office’s success. I’ve watched Jalina navigate the halls of Congress and bureaucracy of diplomacy with grace, professionalism, and courage. I commend Congresswoman Beatty for recognizing Jalina’s leadership and join in welcoming her back to the U.S. House of Representatives.”

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield said, “Jalina is a talented and dedicated spokesperson and trusted advisor who I had the pleasure of working with during her time at the State Department, where she supported my team. I have always been impressed with her keen knowledge and understanding of issues both domestically and internationally, and namely her ability to connect with and communicate these issues effectively to broad audiences. Jalina’s continued service is a testament to her character and commitment to our country. I know the work she will do with the Honorable Representative Beatty will be impactful and important in supporting the Biden Administration’s goals.”

Porter previously served as a presidential appointee in the Biden-Harris Administration as Principal Deputy Spokesperson at the United States Department of State, as well as previous tours at the United States House of Representatives. Porter began her career in service as a Peace Corps volunteer and was honored with the Franklin H. Williams Award from Peace Corps headquarters for her lifetime commitment to humanitarian work and community service.
