OPERATION WHEELS DOWN. The FCSO was proud to partner with the Columbus Division of Police on Saturday, June 4 between the hours of 3PM to 12AM to respond to citizen complaints about individuals on ATVs and dirt bikes putting everyone at risk on roadways and in neighborhoods.
Below are the statistics from Operation Wheels Down Part II.
• 14 vehicles were Impounded (10 from the City of Columbus & 4 from Franklin County)
• 4 individuals were arrested and slated
• 1 individual arrested had a felony warrant and 2 individuals arrested had misdemeanor warrants
• 18 individuals were issued a Summons and/or Citations (10 from the City of Columbus & 8 from Franklin County)
• 2 stolen vehicles (dirt bikes) were recovered
• 2 individuals were charged with “Felony Fleeing”
• 1 individual was charged with OVI
• 1 of the individuals arrested was in possession of a Narcotic (Methamphetamine)
• Officer made contact with an 8 year old on a dirt bike. Officers took advantage of this opportunity and made this a positive encounter by educating the child and the parents
People living in Prairie Township, Franklin County, Ohio and Franklin Township have shared concerns about riders damaging private property, nearly running over children and/or pets, and deliberately riding on the wrong side of the road. Deputies will continue to respond to these community concerns.
