The City of Columbus has announced that it is now accepting applications for funding from nonprofit organizations offering summer programs for youth aged 5-18. These programs should serve young residents within the city's corporate boundaries and aim to assist vulnerable, at-risk, and underserved youth, particularly those affected by crime and violence.
Eligible organizations must operate during the summer months from May through September and focus on improving academic performance, health and well-being, or enhancing career readiness and workplace skills. The city will prioritize funding for programs in its "Opportunity Neighborhoods," which include Hilltop, Linden, Franklinton, South Side, Near East, Southeast, Northeast, Northland neighborhoods as well as the Far East Side and Far West Side.
Applications will be reviewed by representatives from several city departments including the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department, Department of Neighborhoods, Office of Education, and the Office of Violence Prevention. They will work together to decide which organizations receive funding.
The deadline for applications is Friday, February 14 at 5 p.m., with notifications expected in the spring.
