WASHINGTON, D.C.– On May 31, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Responsibility Act, H.R. 3746. Immediately following the vote, U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03) issued the following statement:
"Today, I voted ‘yes’ on the bipartisan budget agreement to prevent a devastating default on America and to protect key programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), veterans’ benefits, education, and housing from the worst Republican impulses,” said Beatty. “When President Biden called me earlier today, we agreed that defaulting on our debt was simply not an option. I thank him for his leadership in negotiating a deal in the face of Republican attempts to impose draconian cuts on our nation’s most vulnerable populations. I stand with the Biden-Harris Administration and House Democrats to continue our fight against MAGA extremism.”
